Description

I don't like submitting just stories, it throws the whole structure of my gallery off, so this pic has a long description :) . I know, some parts are a bit cheesey and the flow is a bit off, but it might help you get to know a few of the charachters of Thae better.

"Tiracco is a lot like what Chemical City could have been," thought Avid, "If only..." She'd come there with the black Verr, only a handful though as most had stayed behind to watch over Chemical City. Tirracco, city of beauty. Tirracco, a city at war. The Black Verr had agreed to have Avid perform and raise the spirit of the troops in exchange for food and other materials. Avid had come to Chemical City to help rebuild it, but really didn't like being used as a bartering tool. Still, she didn't really have much choice in the matter.

She held the tip of her lyphin stick near the flame of a burning candle. It became warm, and Avid began using it to draw up a floor plan of the stage. She'd have to change the choreography a bit, the rhune hall where she usually performed had a curfed front which gave her more room to work with, while this one had a flat rectangular face. Dylah came over to see what she was working on, and was about to say something, then held her tounge as though she had decided against interrupting, and just smiled looking over the sketched.

Too good to talk to you, huh? Morgan said from the shadows. She had a threatening, almost challenging tone in her voice. Avid flicked her ear, she hadn't been paying attention to anything around her. She decided to ignore Morgan's challenge, by now she knew arguing was fruitless with this verr.

Morgan took a step closer, "Don't forget your place, Avid." She scowled and stalked off. Dylah seemed a bit confused. "She seems a bit more angry than usual. I don't know what you did to her, but Morgan is not a good enimy to have, not at all." Avid rested her forhead in her palm, "But I haven't done anything. At least, not that I know of... And to think I have her assigned as one of my protectors." Dylah shook her head, "Asri knows what she is doing. Never question her." Dylah, like most of the black Verr, trusted Asri with their lives. They had to. Their very way of life depended on it. They both knew what Asri was trying to do, though her intentions were good it was causing them all a good deal of unneeded headaches. Avid wished now more than ever Enazni had come with. He promised to look out for her, protect her, and love her. Instead he had stayed behind in the city. Said she'd be find. Said the Black Verr could protect her better than any other. She knew he was needed there more, yet still... She missed him terribly.

Avid looked at Dylah and questioned, "Do you know why she's always so angry?" Dylah shook her head. "She's always angry. But I don't know why she seems so focused on you. She really doesn't talk to anyone much. Except for Slyph, or sometimes Rin. Maybe one of them might know?" Avid sighed pushing her plans aside. She'd gotten most of them done, just a few thing left. Not now though, she had other issues at hand that needed to be dealt with. She had enough of this attitude, and it was time to put an end to it.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Slyph grinned at her through the strands of hair that hung in her face. "Why not try asking Morgan yourself?" Perhaps it had been a mistake trying to talk to Slyph, but Avid knew she held the key. But she wasn't about to reveal anything. "I've tried talking to her. It seems like anything I say or do just... Just makes it worse!" Avid pleaded. "Then don't do anything." Slyph replied in a mocking tone. "You know her better than anyone else, I know you know why she's always on my case, and I want to make it stop, but if I don't know what's wrong I don't know how to fix it!" Slyph narrowed her eyes and glared directly at Avid. "The problem is... you are. She doesn't want you here. I don't want you here. You don't belong. You never did. You are not Verr. You have not suffered as the Verr have. You think you are so much better than the rest of us. You are nieve. You are nothing. The sooner you go away, the better." Slyph gritted her teeth. "You wanted to know. Now you do. Go back to playing your little fantasy games, and let me get back to my job." Well that didn't help at all.

Avid went back to her stage set up and routine plans. She'd tried to find Rin, but to no avail. Rin seemed to be the only one she got along with. Avid doubted there was anyone within the ranks of the Black Verr Rin Silverthorn didn't have good ties with. She'd have to ask her later when she saw her. Avid's mind wouldn't focus. She hadn't done anything, yet more and more she was finding those she kept company with... Really didn't like her. She wished she could just leave, run away... But that really wasn't an option. Breeching her word was treason. So she'd be strong. Fight through this. Find a way.

If only she had some clue as how to start. She knew Morgan hated her, but she didn't know why. Morgan had a powerful influence within the Black Verr, and Avid had a feeling that had tainted some of the others feelings against her as well. Had she done something, and not realized it? Or maybe Morgan was jelous that Avid was now recieving Asri's favor. Perhaps something deeper, Morgan always seemed to hide something with that anger. Those in misery find pleasure in finding someone more miserable than themselves.

"How dare you!" Avid looked up just in time to see Morgan rush her with a bladed weapon. "How dare you try to undermine me." It happened so fast she didn't have time to move or even think. Rin dropped down from the cat walk between Morgan and Avid. Morgan tried to stop, but she didn't have time, her own momentum pulled her forward. As the blade sunk into Rin's arm Rin didn't even flinch. She held her gaze into Morgan's eyes. Avid had never seen Morgan terrified, yet a look of horror spread across her face. "You make my job of protecting this child exceedingly difficult," Rin said in a low tone. "I..." Rin began unwrapping the bandages on her opposite arm to properly bandage her wound. "You came here to draw the blood of one of our family. In that you have succeeded." Morgan's brow furrowed. She did not consider Avid at all one of them. Yet, getting caught, and further more striking Rin, could cause her great consiquence.

None of this wouldn't happened if that dillusional pretty-faced meddling shiee hadn't changed things. She had tolerated much up until now, but now that skamp had gone looking for trouble and tried to expose her secrets. Trying to get Slyph to trade loyalties was a mistake. Morgan stood, for once unsure what to do next. "I..." Morgan tried again. "You let your temper cloud your mind. You have many strengths, however this flaw seems to undermine all of them." Morgan had now regained her composure, "I was almost free of that flaw untill you arrived." Morgan glared. Rin took charge of the situation. "You know she doesn't like this any more than you do. I advise you calm your temper while we are here. I will talk to Asriel to see if I can't get her to change her mind."

"You'd best hope she does." Morgan threatened before backing down then walking away. "Your arm!" Avid said "The wound, it's so deep!" Rin shook her head, "It's not that deep, my arm guards stopped most of it, it looks much worse than it really is. A few stitches should close it up. "But you might scar! And all because of me!" Avid looked torn inside. Rin smiled that knowing smile. Avid knew she was in pain, but years of training had taught Rin to hide that well. "I have many scars. Most of us do, but you wouldn't know, our fur hides it so well. It still hurts, even though you can't see them, they're still there. They are mine, and mine alone." Rin looked into Avid's eyes. "For now, leave Morgan's scar alone. It is for her to decide who she wants to see it."
